The Voice coach John Legend is best known for his critically-aclaimed career that earned him Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards, but this soulful singer is also a huge success when it comes to selling millions of albums. Over the years, John Legend has been nominated for as many as 31 Grammy Awards, winning 12 of them. He’s also won a Primetime Emmy Award for the televised live musical Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert, an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Glory” (Selma), and a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play for Jitney.

But aside from his undeniable critical aclaim, John Legend’s soothing charisma has also landed him numerous acting and hosting gigs, as well as special appearances, that go beyond being a mainstay coach on The Voice. Over the years, John has made appearances on TV series like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Lip Sync Battle, Songland, This Is Us, and The Simpsons. He also starred in the role of Keith in the Best Picture nominee La La Land. When it comes to The Voice, John Legend first joined as a coach in season 16, infamously remembered as Adam Levine’s last season on the reality show.

Over the course of his very long career, beloved The Voice coach John Legend is estimated to have sold a total of 10 million albums. Specifically, John’s most successful albums are 2004’s Get Lifted (4 million copies sold), 2006’s Once Again (2.5 million copies sold), 2008’s Evolver (600,000 copies sold), and 2013’s Love In The Future (790,000 copies sold). More recently, in the streaming era of music, John Legend has also released 2016’s Darkness And Light, 2018’s A Legendary Christmas, and 2020’s Bigger Love. John’s first #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 charts was “All Of Me”, which became a massive hit in 2014.

But what makes John Legend such a great coach on The Voice is this artist’s easygoing attitude, as well as his overall artistic versatility.
