Mackie hilariously called out Holland during his acceptance speech at the MTV Awards, continuing the years-long rivalry between the two.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie got the last laugh when he hilariously called out Tom Holland during his acceptance speech for Best Duo at the MTV Awards. Mackie and Holland have starred alongside each other in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame as Falcon and Spider-Man, respectively. Much to the amusement of the Marvel fan base, Holland and Mackie have developed a rivalry over the years.
The hilarious feud kicked off when Holland made his MCU debut in Captain America 3. Holland was just 19-years old when he filmed the movie alongside multiple MCU veterans, some of whom, naturally, took to poking fun at the fresh-faced newbie. Mackie and Stan relentlessly teased Holland for his diva-like behaviors, with Mackie stating that Holland was “a little asshole.” Meanwhile, Holland took a shot at Mackie on Twitter when he commented on the absence of a Falcon movie. The two have continued their rivalry with jests and social media trolling, but Mackie very much wants the last word.

As Mackie gave his acceptance speech for winning Best Duo at the MTV Movie and TV Awards (via tonyssuit), he wrapped it up by hilariously calling out Holland. The award was won by both Mackie and Stan for their performance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, though Stan was absent due to his filming of Pam & Tommy. During his speech, Mackie touched on his and Stan’s friendship and their enjoyment in filming the series. He expressed his happiness and gratitude to everyone and also joked about being unemployed now. At the very end, though, he had a little message for Holland, stating, “I’m on your ass, boy, I’m on your ass.” Check out his speech below:
It was a big night for Mackie, as he took home the Best Hero award, as well. Mackie’s performance in the miniseries was nothing short of stellar and monumental. When Chris Evans exited the MCU as Captain America in Avengers: Endgame, many anticipated that Mackie would take over the role, considering Falcon does so in the comics. However, no one expected the seamless and powerful way the miniseries would set up Mackie to earn the shield. A black man becoming Captain America and striving to be a progressive hero was a huge moment in the MCU that Mackie pulled off perfectly.
It remains to be seen if Mackie really did get the last laugh this time or if Holland will clap back with an even more hilarious burn. Considering their previous roasts and trolling of one another, it is probably safe to assume the rivalry will continue. After all, Holland is already filming Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Captain American 4 is lurking on the horizon – these two will have more than enough fame and success to cast onto one another in the coming years. Jokes aside, Mackie is correct that the rest of the MCU needs to watch out for him. His award-winning role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is just the tip of the iceberg, and the MCU can’t wait to see him do justice to the Captain America role in the coming years.
