BETHEL — Cafe Dicocoa’s, a staple in downtown Bethel for more than two and a half decades, will close its doors for good in early July.

A post was made on the cafe’s Facebook page saying “After 26 incredible years serving the community of Bethel, Cathi is retiring and DiCocoa’s is closing. She has lovingly fed so many of us over the years and is now excited to enter her next chapter.”

“The community Cathi has fostered at Dicocoa’s reaches far and wide, and the memories are dear to all who have played a part. For those of us that have worked at Cafe Dicocoa, raised our families throughout it’s growth, and made dear friendships here, we truly have felt that it was one of the most wonderful chapters in our lives, too. Dicocoa’s has been a place where creativity was welcomed and new ideas were always given a chance to flourish.”

Efforts were made to keep Dicocoa’s going beyond Cathi’s retirement, but logistically, things did not work out, according to the post.

The last day the cafe will be open is on July 5. Hours up until the closing date will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Monday. Customers who have not used up gift cards are encouraged to stop by to indulge in a tasty treat and drink while they still have the chance.

According to the post, two co-workers are planning to open a new bakery in the Bethel Village and are currently finalizing the new spot. The status of the current Cafe Dicocoa building is unknown at the time, but the post hinted at something happening there in the future.
