The CW releases the first official image of Jordan Fisher as Bart Allen (a.k.a. Impulse) on The Flash season 7 — perfectly homaging the a comic panel.
Ahead of his debut later in The Flash season 7, a new image offered fans their first official look at Jordan Fisher’s Bart Allen (a.k.a. Impulse). Developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns, the Arrowverse spinoff first premiered in 2014. Centered around Grant Gustin’s titular speedster, The Flash has been consistently renewed and is currently in the middle of its seventh season. Along the way, Team Flash has encompassed several notable members, embracing its theme of found and chosen family. That theme has only been expanded upon in The Flash season 7 — with Barry and Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) creating the Still, Sage, and Strength Forces that’ve come to be viewed as their children.

Earlier in 2021, however, it was confirmed that the duo’s more literal children would appear in the back half of The Flash season 7. That first came via the announcement that Fisher would debut as Bart Allen. Traditionally, the character was Barry and Iris’ grandson. On the show, however, he was be depicted as their own son. The storyline reason for his venturing back from the future has remained shrouded in understandable secrecy. Whatever the case, Fisher will make his first appearance in The Flash season 7, episode 17 – the show’s 150th episode overall – and pay off several Arrowverse Bart Allen easter eggs. He’s expected to recur throughout multiple subsequent episodes, including The Flash season 7 finale.
Ever since the announcement, various set photos have emerged of Fisher as Bart Allen in his full Impulse costume. With the episode rapidly approaching, however, the official Twitter account, @CW_TheFlash, released the first offical image. Therein, The World’s Fastest Teenager was show as all smiles and gleefully punching hing the air as he raced through Central City. As if the identical costume wasn’t enough, the pose offered by Fisher’s Bart Allen was a direct homage of a famous panel from DC’s Flash comics. Fisher also offered a BTS look at himself in the costume. Check out both posts below:
Bart Allen won’t be the only young speedster to appear in The Flash‘s landmark 150th episode. After some mild teasing from Fisher himself, it was confirmed that Jessica Parker Kennedy would return as XS. It hasn’t been made clear whether she will remain Nora West-Allen or sport a new name, given the recent events of The Flash season 7. Either way, fans can, at the very least, expect an entirely new iteration from the one that was erased from the timeline back in The Flash season 5. Regardless, she will remain in posession of her heroic spirit as the siblings partner with their parents to combat the threat of Godspeed and others.
It’ll also be interesting to see what kind of dynamic the two siblings share. Whatever the case, the above image served as a solid tease of what fans can expect from Fisher’s Bart Allen as an individual speedster. Much like his comic book counterpart (and his superhero name would suggest), Impulse looked to fully thrive and gleefully enjoy his abilities. That will make a stark contrast to Barry Allen — who has come to feel the weight of his responsibilities over the years. For many, it’ll also be a breathe of fresh air, even as the character’s attitude inevitably causes problems for Team Flash. As such, fans (and an equally joyful Fisher himself) will no doubt hope Bart and Nora Allen stick around for The Flash season 8, serving as replacements for the departing Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) and Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh).
